Our New House

Well Rach and I are officially homeowners! We had a few anxious moments in the process, but as of about 4:45 today the papers are all signed and it is official. Now we just have to start the moving process, which involves my sister and her family switching residences with me. We are still not sure exactly how it is going to work, but we are excited to get started. Rach is excited to paint the house and plant her pumpkins.

We have a few things we want to change, but Rach will finally have a closet that contains nothing but clothes and shoes. For anyone who hasn't seen her closet lately, it is stacked from floor to ceiling and wall to wall with junk- I mean her things. :)

The house is in American Fork, which Rach thinks is a whole new world, and she is worried about it. It also happens to be the house I grew up in, but enough has changed in the neighborhood for it to still seem new to me.

You'll have to come see us soon!

Engagement Pictures

We got our engagement pictures taken on Saturday. Boy was I worried about them. Obviously I'd never had them taken before but I worried for a couple weeks what Dan and I should wear and where we should take them. My sister mentioned that we should go to some of the places that Dan and I have been- somewhere with memories, but I couldn't think of anything. I also wanted some really fun pictures not just formal ones. I really wanted something with trees and flowers but apparently in March there just isn't anything growing yet. Hopefully when May comes there will be some bright colors around.

We ended up going to my Grandpa Clinton's log cabin and some of the farm equipment that is still sitting in the field. My cousins live there now- Jason and Jana; so thanks for letting us intrude in your cow fields. We also went to Centenial Park in American Fork, and some building with green stuff growing all over it and an ugly red building that is falling apart. Not a big fan of the broken buildings. Dan said that he loves the old buildings so as long as he's happy that's all that matters.
Also thanks to my Uncle Keith and Aunt Angie who took the pictures and did a great job. They were very patient with me
too - especially since we don't have the same style.

Look how cute we are!

Getting to know Dan

I decide that it would be a good idea to post of few things about Dan so you can all get to know him better.

Favorite Childhood Hero: His Grandpa Dee. If you want a fictional character than it would have to be Superman. It was the only one he knew of and saved the superman peanut butter jars. ;)

Favorite Food: He loves his mom's wontons

Favorite Movie: Dan doesn't usually watch movies over and over, but when he really likes one like Ghostbusters he will watch it and even quote it. His favorite quote- "Yes it's true this man has no.... " or "Doe, Ray, Egon" or "Cats and dogs, living together- mass hysteria."

Favorite Music: He usually just switches the stations around when it's talking. I don't even know what he likes to listen too. Like he said though it depends on his mood. Usually pretty mellow stuff these days. (My guess would be anything Disney- or is that my favorite)

Favorite Band: He likes to listen to Pearl Jam or Tom Petty.

Mission: Dan went on a mission to Vienna Austria. He loved every minute of it too. Someday he said that he would take me back there. Emy and he are already planning a trip that direction to see Germany and Austria.

Brothers and Sisters: Dan has two younger sisters, KrisdeeAnna and Amber, and a little brother James. He also has an older brother Joseph Dee or Joe Dee who died when he was a couple of days old.

Nieces and nephews: Dan has 8 of them until May when he gains 5 from my family;) Amber has 5 kids: Travis, Taylee, Tyler, Emma and Elias; and Krisdee has 3: Tyson, Sarah and Joshua.

Favorite date: Dan said that his favorite day is May 15th- that's the day we are getting married. ;)

Favorite memories from Childhood: Dan loved Fishing with his dad and grandpa, cutting wood- which is a good things because we will have 2 fireplaces and I don't like to chop wood; watching his dad play basketball and "Working" on the farm with his Grandpa Dee.

Favorite game Dan likes to play Stratego- maybe? I would have thought it was any game that he could play with his nieces and nephews. He loves to put them on his head and pretend that they are his hat or have them walk so they can walk on the ceiling. They love that.

Something that bothers you: I guess he doesn't like it when people are very insensitive to others needs- pet peeve insincerity.

Car: Dan drives a Jeep Cherokee -which works out nice for me to deliver wedding cakes in. ;) It's also blue- his favorite color.

Dreams or hopes for the future: Dan wants a family and a good enough job to support them. He is a hard worker so I know everything will work out just fine and we will always have what we need- maybe not always what we want- but what we need.

Where do you want to visit: Dan wants to go to Austria again and to go someplace relaxing with a beach

Favorite color: BYU blue - he said our kids can't wear Red because that's the Utes color

Favorite Sports: BYU Football and Basketball, and Jazz - I have learned quite a bit about sports since I've met him.

I hope this helps. Dan's a great guy. I am glad he gets to be in my life.

We Registered

Dan and I have had a lot of people ask us what we needed and where we were registered. I didn't want to register, because I didn't want anyone to have to buy us anything from a list. We are both a smidge older than some and have quite a bit of items already. I started asking for some things for Christmas because I knew eventually that I wanted to buy a house- then they got really expensive, but now that they are getting cheaper we can afford one. ;) I am very excited to organize and clean it and make it our house.

It really wasn't so bad to look at things and see what we actually could use. It was funner once we got into the gardening section. I could really use a little hand shovel. ;) We did register for some usual items: Waffle Iron- Dan said that the Hello Kitty Waffle Iron I have just doesn't make waffles big enough for a man. Imagine that- he won't eat kitty shaped waffles.

He wants a griddle to make pancakes, we thought a stir crazy, popcorn popper would be fun, of course pillows, and towels. Our bathroom colors are sage green and a light purple. The color that I put on the register is actually the wrong color but they didn't have it. So don't buy the purple towels-find a lighter color.

I also registered for some toilet paper- for some reason I am worried about being in the house by myself and stuck on the pot without paper.

Anyway, I hope this all helps you in your purchasing decisions. Happy shopping.

Our friends Jeremy and Alicia Roberts made this poster of Dan. I thought it was so funny I just had to share with all. I hope you enjoy it.

Birthday Fun!

This last week was a fun filled Birthday extravaganza! We celebrated my little brother Logan's 11th birthday, Emy's 31st birthday and Meg's 23rd birthday.

Happy Birthday Logan!

March 2nd

For Logan's birthday we had a family dinner of Chicken nuggets and Ramen Noodles and a yellow cake that looked like a gold brick. He's so funny. He designed it himself. He had a lot of fun opening his presents. He got lots of Legos, and loved the Lego pirate shirt that Dan and I got him. He has also had a lot of fun playing with Marky, Milly and Princess Ada. What a fun birthday surprise to have them come and visit.

Here are some of Logan's favorite things to do:

* Play the computer
* Play Legos
* Stay up late to read books- lots of books
* Learn about all sorts of Science things and watch Nova
* Watch movies
* Play with his nieces and nephews
* Swimming
* Playing in the snow- digging tunnels

That's my little brother for you!

Happy Birthday Emy!

March 4th

We were really luck this year to celebrate with Emy. We didn't think she would be coming to visit so my mom already mailed her package so Emy won't get that present until after the 20th.

Dan and I gave her a Family home evening board with some magnets with her kids names on them. I thought it turned out cute.

We had a Mexican Luau. Missy and I decorated with Leis, and Tiki torches, and then realized that she wanted Tacos for dinner. Oh well. We had Key Lime pie for dessert and even forked it just to show Markus that we could. ;) He said that it isn't right to just stick a fork in a cake and eat it- we're suppose to slice us a piece. I think cake tastes better when it's fork.

Here are some of Emy's favorite things to do:

* Looking at fabric websites
* Coming to visit family in Utah
* Sewing cute clothes for the girls
* Going to Book club
* Reading great books
* Blogging and making scrapbooks on the computer
* Playing with the kids
* Going on Dates with Markus when they can

Happy Birthday Meg!

March 6th

For Meg's birthday Emy made the cutest flower placemats to decorate. We had our family dinner that Emy made- Chicken Cordon Blue and potatoes and brussel sprouts, and of course some yummy German Chocolate Cake. It's so good. We played some games and laughed as we made fun of each other. ;)

Here are some of Meg's favorite things to do:

* Play games with family
* Going on vacations
* Shopping
* Being with Ben and the kids
* Reading Twilight - as you can see from the picture
* Watching movies

And here is us forking Logan's Cake- Boy was it good.

It was definetly a great Birthday Week.

I got my dress!

It is so exciting that I finally found my wedding dress. You will just have to wait and see what it looks like later. But It's great. It's perfect too. You will just have to say to yourself, "I wonder what it's going to look like?"
I went shopping so many times, and cried so many times trying to find a dress that I could move my arms in and actually be comfortable and hug people. I didn't want to be miserable and be upset because my arms were squeezing out of the sleeves. I got it from David's Bridal in Orem and ended up with a sleeveless dress. It's fine because my Aunt Doris is going to help me add the sleeves. Thanks for the help from my sister Emy and my friends Holly and Alicia for putting up with me in my search. ;)

Emy's here

Last night Missy called Dan in a panic because she said our DVD player didn't work and Dad was upset because he wanted to watch a movie. Dan and Missy were very convincing because I believed them. But when we got to the house there wasn't any problem. It was Emy- and there she was in my house.

What a surprise to come home and find Emy and the kids there. I just started crying in the kitchen. I had talked to her in January about visiting but Markus had said that she couldn't come so my Dad surprised everyone by just sending her here. I am so excited too, because now she can come and help me pick out a wedding dress.

I am so glad they are here to visit. Now we can have a birthday party for her on the 4th. Emy will be staying until the 20th so she won't even miss my Bridal Shower that Hillary is planning for me with the Gerber Family. Everything really does work out perfectly.
