Hot Dog it's a suprise Party

Missy threw me a suprise party. ;) It was great. Emy and her had been planning my 30th birthday since January, but things kept coming up and they had to change their plans.
They finally decided on a picnic HOT DOG PARTY complete with Hot dog bar. They even invited some of my cousins and friends. Here are the highlights.
Emy and Missy went in together on a CD Player for under my counter in the kitchen. I didn't have space for a big one and actually planned on buying one anyway so it worked out perfectly
We had a watermelon pinata. I even tried it~ but refused a blind fold so I just swung at it after the kids had a chance to try.

Aunt Deanna and Phil were visiting from Arizona a Washington for some family things. It was great to see them and do some catching up.

Of course the kids have always loved sliding down the hill

Do you play Croquet?

My dad decided that it would be a great idea to have family home evening once a month at each other's house. This last monday was mine and Dan's turn.

We had a lesson on Service. I thought it would be great to focus on how we can help others- not on how we want others to help us. I've noticed that when you focus on others- it could be your neighbors, or people at work or your family than it's easier to deal with your own problems. My mom and dad are great examples of service. My mom is always helping Ben with his kids and over at my grandma and grandpa's helping them weed, clean the house and most recently helping re-shingle the roof. I wasn't able to help as much as I like because of my back and the angle of the roof. It's been pretty hard having a back problem. I used to be able to do just about anything, but not anymore.

Anyway - we based the lesson off of the conference talk given by Elder Oaks. You should all read it.

After the lesson- we had homemade Vanilla ice cream compliments of my mom and Grandpa Lloyd and I was able to use my new Ice cream maker and made some chocolate. Yum!

4th of July in Moroni

This was the first time that Missy and I went to Moroni for the 4th of July parade. Here we are sitting with Dan's Grandpa Dee and his Grandma Maurine. There really was more candy but really lacking in floats. But we still had fun. We even had a family lunch after. Missy and I made a lot of jokes and had a lot of fun.
Dan's Nephew Josh and his sister Krisdee

Some girl and Kaylon ( Dan's Cousin)

The kids waiting for the candy. I don't think they even knew who was in the parade. They just chased the candy down the street.

Missy and Me. It was fun doing stuff with my sister. ;)

Independence Day

As an all time favorite movie of Missy's. I'd like to quote that

"Today is the day we celebrate our Independence Day!"

We are greatful that we live in a country that we can have our freedom of Religion. To be able to believe in our Heavenly Father and for the things that he has given us.

I woke up this morning and realized that I don't have 4th of July music like my mom has. She'd turn it on in the morning while she was making breakfast or cleaning up the kitchen. So you'll just have to play the music in your mind - or if you'd like to belt the words out as your are cleaning your house or driving. It's on of my favorite songs for this holiday.

I’d thank my lucky stars,to be livin here today.‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,to the hills of Tennessee.Across the plains of Texas,From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A.Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.
We hope you all have a great Independence Day

Lehi Parade

Here we all are at the Lehi Parade. Dan said he likes the Moroni Parade better since they throw more candy. Yep that's the most important part of a parade. ;)

The boys slept over at our house Friday night. I think they had fun. Dan said he could hear them getting up in the middle of the night doing something. Apparently they were doing dares. But it didn't matter-I still got them up at 8 am to start the day.
